Gourry Gabriev is a descendant of the warrior who slayed the chimera Zanaffar. He's a skilled swordsman who has no match among humans.

Gourry has looks that would make anyone's head turn, but his intelligence is slightly lacking in contrast to his appearance. If a topic becomes even slightly complex, he falls to understand it. Gourry also doesn't know common sense that even a child might have. However, he still remembers every little detail about Lina.

Gourry's a great glutton, but doesn't like bitter foods like bell peppers and coffee. Even if a bell pepper is diced into little pieces and mixed in with other ingredients, he can pick them out with inhuman ability.

Gorun Nova, the Sword of Light, is the Gabriev family sword passed down for generations. It has the ability to change one's willpower into a blade of light. It's an amazing sword with an ability to deflect magic or absorb it. The sword can even channel powerful magic like Dragon Slave or Giga Slave. Lina Inverse covets this sword of light, but Gourry has managed to keep it from her clutches for now and is still using it.
