Morrian is the governor of 'Saul', the city with the greatest military force in all of Demon World. A former soldier, Morrian's cool-headed judgment and decisiveness is the reason why Saul, a city once ridden with corruption, was able to attain the greatest military. The instant Morrian became governor, she eradicated all of Saul's corruption in just one day, as if she had been waiting for the chance. Implementing policies advantageous to Saul, she walked a different path than those of past governors. Thus, it wasn't long before the people and soldiers of Saul became enthusiastic supporters of Morrian.
Morrian's unparalleled efforts are what has made her a respected governor. Spending her time researching policy, assessing Saul's state of affairs and commanding troops on top of her own personal training, there was not a single day that she wasted. Her demonstration of persistent effort and tenacity, even as governor, earned her the trust of the people and soldiers alike.
That's not to say she didn't have talent. When she was a military academy student, though she participated completely unprepared, she came out on top in a competition with the best cadets from each city, never to be dethroned. She even excelled in a personnel evaluation that was riddled with corruption on merit alone, setting a record for the youngest person to receive a special promotion. Diligent and talented, Morrian was a paragon and source of pride for all of Saul. She received recognition from all, and yet she never stopped striving for more.
Her obsession with being number one was fueled by the one person she could not beat, her half-sister Lilith. As the second daughter, Morrian was compared to her elder sister Lilith her whole life. From an early age, the two were forced to compete in various contests set up by their grandfather, the King of Saul. Morrian could never beat Lilith, not even once. She did everything she could to win, but the outcome remained the same. The constant defeats left Morrian with a great sense of inferiority, which became an insecurity, and caused her to become obsessed with Lilith. Since becoming governor, Morrian has issued a steady stream of criticism and accusations against Lilith, which Lilith did not respond to. Some claim it to be a subtle display of inferiority, but for the most part, it is brushed off as mere slander.
